In todays modern diet, in particular in the USA, the food choices are abundant, creatively designed to look oh so yummy but there is one key ingredient missing. What is it? The answer is nutritional value or nutrients. This country has been so programmed into watching calories that nutritional value doesn't even register in peoples minds. The truth is we don't need as much food as we eat, food is needed to fuel the engine of the body. Our bodies respond to the energy the food provides, if it has no nutritional value we find ourselves feeling hungry again less than an hour after eating. And even worse, if the food you choose has any type of chemical additives such as high fructose corn syrup or caffeine, you can bet you will feel as if you didn't eat at all, crippled with cravings for more food. The food industry is a business and your health and well being is not one of their goals, their goal is to make money and get you to buy as much food as possible.
So your body is now taxed with processing all the junk it just consumed, it's looking for nutrients but little if any are to be found and your body is working overtime to process the processed food and attempt to detoxify your body. Our bodies are amazing and can process even the worst of foods we ingest but over time the functions start to degenerate and without proper nutrition they breakdown. Are you starting to see the cycle? I mean the drug companies are well aware of this and they market their drugs to the symptoms most likely to occur from malnutrition. That's the keyword, malnutrition. Most people don't picture malnutrition any other way than being emaciated but with todays modern diet malnutrition manifests in the form of obesity. Lots of food with little to no nutrition. So whats the answer? The answer is simple, it requires taking responsibility but most importantly it requires a high willingness to learn and a high willingness to accept change. There is a great quote that goes like this; "if you want things in your life to change, you're going to have to change things in your life". In other words, you can't keep eating the same foods, thinking the same thoughts, hanging out with the same people and expect anything to change or be different. So if you're ready for change and your willing to give something up, mainly the processed food diet, than you can be one of the lucky one's who finds happiness in health. So where do you start? I suggest starting with getting the correct information, listen to the people who have the evidence of what you want. In other words, don't take diet and fitness advise from the diabetic who's 50 lbs. overweight and is missing a leg. So listen to the right people, be teachable (willingness to learn and willingness to change), pay attention to your beliefs surrounding health and well being. If you don't believe you can lose weight, then that will be true for you, your mind will not create anything other than things that match your beliefs and beliefs are just thoughts you have practiced long enough that they became beliefs. When your beliefs are in the sweet spot with your desire then take inspired action towards your goal and exercise. I am forgetting the most important element and perhaps I saved the best for last. Nourish your body with nutrient rich foods and take a whole food supplement such as Phytomatrix or Nutriverus. Supplementing is a must in todays world, supplementing is simply giving your body everything that nature intended that may be lacking in your diet. This is the fuel or raw materials for your body to function at a high level. Do not miss this point, supplementing is a necessity in todays modern world. So you now have some awareness as to the challenges you face in getting proper nutrition, I can not give you all the info in this tiny blog post but hopefully it stimulated your mind into thinking outside the box. Hopefully it at the least inspired you to start supplementing whats lacking in your diet and hopefully I planted some seeds that get you thinking about what you can do better to feel better. The biggest secret is that you must feel good and be thinking about what you want and if your body feels like crap that most likely is not going to be the case. In fact you will most likely be thinking about the lack of what you want wondering why or who is keeping it from you. Healthy mind, healthy body equals a healthy life.
